Musikgarten of Minnehaha Falls under new ownership
The renowned early childhood music program now offering fall classes

/Minnesota News Articles/ - MINNEAPOLIS, MN, September 15, 2008 - Musikgarten of Minnehaha Falls (www.musikgartenminnehahafalls.com), which has helped hundreds of families in the south Minneapolis area discover the joy of making music together, is now under new ownership. Emily Ireland, who is president-elect of the St. Paul Piano Teachers Association and owner of the Emily Ireland Music Studio in the Lake Nokomis area, took ownership of the program in July. Ireland, who is also a member of the Music Teachers National Association, Minnesota Music Teachers Association, and Association of Professional Piano Instructors, has a bachelor's degree in music and German from Gustavus Adolphus College, and a master's degree in music education and piano pedagogy from the University of St. Thomas.

Musikgarten of Minnehaha Falls is located in the Nokomis/Longfellow area and provides music classes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers up to age 5. It is designed to nurture the child's music aptitude by engaging families in singing and movement activities which attune the ear, refine the voice, and develop a rhythmic body.

"Musikgarten is the only program that is based on a keen understanding of how children learn, in both a general sense and, specifically, how they learn music," Ireland says, adding that each semester, families add to their home library with a new CD, songbook, and instruments.

Specific classes include: All Together Now - capturing the magic of nursery rhymes in a versatile mixed-age curricula (for ages birth to 5 years old); Family Music for Babies â " a parent/child bonding experience that immerses the child in singing, playful activities, bouncing, rocking, and instruments (for ages birth to 13 months); Family Music for Toddlers - an energetic, exploratory experience combining singing, listening, playing instruments, and expressive movement (for ages 14 months to 3 years old); and Cycle of Seasons - a musical celebration of the four seasons (for children ages 3 to 5 years old.)

Fall classes start September 15, and there are currently openings in all programs.
