New Web Based Non Profit To Help Build Orphanages Worldwide. 200 Orphanages Worldwide seeks donors who will help build buildings for the most vulnerable children in the world. Orphans, homeless and the very poor need help now.
200Orphanagesworldwide.org is a web based fundraising and awareness building tool that existing orphanages around the globe can use as a forum for their expansion needs. Orphanages can apply to be featured on the site and be eligible for fundraising and volunteer support. It is a free service.


    SARTELL, MN, October 04, 2008 /Minnesota News Articles/ -- The goal of 200Orphanagesworldwide.org is to help raise funds for existing organizations worldwide that are already providing care and shelter for orphans and the needy in our world. The need is so great. With the rise of civil strife, poverty and HIV, the need for housing the most vulnerable in our world has reached epidemic proportions. There are groups across the globe with feet on the ground trying to help the children and 200 Orphanages Worldwide wants to help them do their work.

A secondary benefit to exiting orphanages is that these normally isolated groups have a web-based format to broadcast their building plans and their funding needs. Likewise, donors and volunteers who have a heart to help orphanages now have access to certified and approved organizations.

The website www.200orphanagesworldwide.org is central for the organization. Orphanages from around the world can go online and apply to have their building project featured. Once the application is reviewed and approved, fund raising begins. Currently there are 6 approved projects from Uganda, Rwanda, India, the US and Zambia featured on the site with 2 in process. Fund raising is now just at the beginning stages. In addition, through the nonprofit's web site, donors can learn about the various needs, make a selection of orphanages for donating or volunteering. Various volunteers from around the world have applied, however the first trip isn't planned until June 2009.

Even though the group has been forming since October 2007 the real work is just beginning on behalf of orphans around the world. "I get emails every week from orphanages on the site that have desperate need for housing," said Jan Hanson, executive director and founder. The organization hopes to get in front of as many people as possible over the next few months using every means possible to raise awareness.

Hanson plans to raise awareness nationwide with associations and other related agencies and groups in the construction and building industries. Making presentations to corporations, civic groups and other entities will be critical as we help fund as many of these projects as possible. In spite of the tough economy, the goal is to have 25 founding donors by the end of the year. "People here still care for orphans around the world and have money, time and talent to give," Hanson said. "Our motto: 'Orphaned by not forgotten' is truer today than ever. Our country has great compassion and resources and the heart to give."

"The World Wide Web gives a voice to the most vulnerable in our world." Hanson said. There will eventually be a tracking mechanism and comment section built into the web site to track funding and building progress. Donors will be able to follow their orphanages and track their giving history. A monthly newsletter along with email alerts is also planned.

"The web adds a new dimension to helping the invisible poor and orphans and we plan to take full advantage of the forum," Hanson said.
