Stone Mountain Pet Lodge Announces Dog Grooming Contest
Stone Mountain Pet Lodge, Blaine, Minnesota, will host a dog grooming competition in October 2009. Cash and merchandise prizes will be awarded.

BLAINE, MN, May 14, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stone Mountain Pet Lodge announced that it will host a pet grooming contest October 24-25, 2009. "Chester's Dog Grooming Competition" will be held at the Lodge's Petvention Center, 9935 Radisson Road N.E.

The competition will include seminars on grooming styles and trends. Contest judge Karla Addington-Smith, a member of the International Judges Association and a Certified Master Groomer, will speak on "Preparing Your 'Canvas': the Artistry of Grooming" and "The View from the Other Side of the Comb: Competition Tips from the Judge."

Addington-Smith is a four-time winner of the Cardinal Crystal Achievement Award, a former member of USA Groom Team, editor of Pet Boutique & Spa Magazine, and author of a new book, The Foundation of Good Grooming, published by Ohio State University.

"We really want to boost professionalism in pet grooming," says Stone Mountain owner Dave Larson. "That's why we decided to host this competition."

Groomers will compete in four categories: Poodle breeds, sporting dogs, terriers and mixed and other breeds. The non-sanctioned competition is open to novice, intermediate and expert groomers. Cash and merchandise prizes will be awarded.

Stone Mountain invites local salons to sponsor the event. The sponsorship fee of $100 includes a banner, mention in the program and on Stone Mountain's website, and entry fees for two competitors.

Individual groomers may also enter the competition; the entrance fee is $55 (nonrefundable). Entry into second and subsequent classes is $45 each. Entry deadline is July 15. For more information, e-mail info@stonemountainpetlodge.com.
