"The Descendant" is the first in a planned trilogy that chronicles the life of Penny, a modern day African and Native American intuitive and healer, and the women that came before her. Much of "The Descendant" takes place before Penny is born as her unborn soul watches over the three generations of women that precede her birth in 1958. She watches as these women face countless struggles, victories and defeats, from the crushing realities of racism to their heartfelt searches for love. When Penny enters the story in the flesh, her mystical and spiritual abilities are apparent early on, abilities her parents find very threatening. As they seek to dominate, control and destroy her, Penny unleashes a power they cannot touch or control.
