Cartwright School District Invests in Summer Reading by Giving More than 100,000 Books to Students
Continuing its efforts to promote student literacy and encourage reading over the summer vacation, Cartwright School District in Phoenix, Ariz., is investing in summer reading by giving more than 100,000 books to its 18,000 students.
MANKATO, MN, April 13, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Continuing its efforts to promote student literacy and encourage reading over the summer vacation, Cartwright School District in Phoenix, Ariz., is investing in summer reading by giving more than 100,000 books to its 18,000 students. Students in each grade level, from Kindergarten through grade 8, will receive six books along with activity notes to their parents offering suggestions on how families can participate in their child's learning.
The assorted books include a mix of recreational reading along with more curriculum-based titles purchased from Heinemann-Raintree Classroom, a division of Capstone, the leading publisher of children's books and digital products and services.

Among the books students will receive include award-winning titles from the Graphic Science series, winner of the Teachers' Choice Award for Children's Books (Learning Magazine) and an Honor Book Award recipient (Society of School Librarians International), the Graphic Flash series, recipient of the Premier Selection Award (Junior Library Guild), and several titles from the Acorn and Read Me! series, both recommended by the National Science Teachers Association.
Cartwright School District serves more than 18,000 students in 16 elementary schools and four middle schools in Phoenix, Ariz.
