Iowa Lakes Corridor Hosts "Dream Big Grow Here" competition--Begins August 1
Entrepreneurs can win $15,000 for their business

LITTLE FALLS, MN, August 03, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Would $15,000 help your emerging or existing business? We thought so. That's why the Iowa Lakes Corridor is one of eight regions in Iowa hosting the Dream Big Grow Here contest during the month of August.

The contest is done virtually, where entrepreneurs submit their business dreams to www.DreamBigGrowHere.com. Submissions are made in the form of video, text, pictures, or a combination of these. The submissions should explain the business and why the contestant deserves to win; submissions will be accepted from August 1-31. September 1-16, voters are asked to visit www.dreambiggrowhere.com, go through the submissions and vote for who they believe is worthy of the $5,000 award.

The eight regional winners will then go on to compete at the state level for an additional $10,000. The state winner will be chosen by a panel of experts.

"The Iowa Lakes Corridor is proud to have been selected to offer this competition in our region and is providing the matching funds necessary to bring this competition to our area entrepreneurs," said Kathy Evert, president and CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor. "We encourage and support all submissions that meet the criteria and look forward to engaging thousands of people in the region to help select the Corridor region's winner."

Each region creates the rules for their competition. The Corridor is not putting an age or industry restriction on the contest. The Corridor works to create the next generation of successful entrepreneurs, with entrepreneurial programs for students in kindergarten through college. Because of the Corridor's involvement in youth entrepreneurship, the contest will be open to these resourceful and innovative youth.

Other rules include the business must be small, with 0-30 employees. Persons competing must reside in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson or Emmet County, or their business/prospective business must be located in one of the four counties.

Entries can be submitted to www.DreamBigGrowHere.com between August 1-31 and the voting period will be from September 1-16. Someone in the Corridor's four-county region will win; why not you?

The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is the regional economic development agency for Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties. Its mission is to foster, encourage, aid, promote or otherwise assist in the economic growth and development of the region.
